Antique 19th century French Louis Style mirror, highly decorated Rococo Gold Leaf Wooden Frame. Very Large 70cm by 152cm This auction is for one of many items we are selling and have sold on behalf of a family member. We are selling another similar but smaller mirror. The mirror is topped by a very large marble effect plaque with a classic baroque cherubs and roses relief. It is closed off at the back with the original wooden closing. It is incredibly grand as was hung in a relative’s grand property in France. After she passed away this has been sat in my cousin’s garage under protective wrapping. It is dusty and needs a proper clean. However, as it I gilded, I do not want to attempt to do this myself. The frame is beautifully cast and ornately decorated in the Rococo style with rose/leaf masks/motifs and scrolling decoration throughout. It still has its original brass back plate and glass which is clean with no pitting. This is a lovely decorative piece that would grace any home. I believe from my cousin, that it was purchased in at Salon Antiquité Brocante, located in the village of Antibes sometime during the 70’s. . This is one of the largest and most prestigious antique fairs in France, taking place during the last two weeks of April. Professionals from all over Europe flock here every year. I think the grandeur and the quality of this mirror portrays this. The measurements are as accurate as can be from the widest point.
